Activate and deactivate the feature that minimizes taskbar updates to news and points of interest

There are two ways to enable and disable taskbar update minimization for news and interests:

  • Taskbar shortcut menu
  • Registry Editor

Using the taskbar shortcut menu

Instructions for activating the option Minimize taskbar updates from the context menu below:

  • Right-click the taskbar.
  • Expand the menu News and interests.
  • Click an option Minimize taskbar updates.

The minimized taskbar refresh then displays a check box next to the option. A check mark indicates that the function is activated.

Using Registry Editor

Before you continue, we recommend that you back up the registry to your hard disk. This allows you to restore the registry if an error occurs. Follow the instructions below:

  • Type regedit In the Windows search box.
  • Click the application Registry Editor launch it. Click Yeah In the UAC window.
  • You can also start Registry Editor by typing regedit dialog box Run (Windows + R).
  • In Registry Editor, go to the following branch:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion

You can simply copy and paste the path to the address bar in Registry Editor instead of manually navigating to the assigned key.

  • Now expand the key Current version double-click it and check if it contains a subkey Feeds or not. If the subkey Feeds is not present, you have to create it. To do this, right-click the button Current version and select New> Key. Name this newly created key Feeds.
  • Select a subkey Input and check if there is a value DWORD ShellFeedsTaskbarContentUpdateMode is in the right box or not.
  • Create it if it is not present. To do this, right-click an empty space in the right pane and select New> DWORD value (32 bits). Name this new value ShellFeedsTaskbarContentUpdateMode.
  • Now double-click the DWORD value and type: to turn off minimizing taskbar updates, or 1 to minimize taskbar updates.

When you’re done, click ALRIGHT save the changes and close Registry Editor.
