Spam calls come in uncontrollably. Previously you could just ignore anything without it. You need an identifier and the “unknown” designation or remote area code. Today, thanks to automated systems that spoof phone numbers, crooks and spammers can call you from numbers that appear come from your neighborhood. Lots of people now receive multiple spam calls every day. Half of them are about their extended car warranty. Fortunately, your iPhone has a few features that can help combat this nuisance, and they’re really easy to use, it’s a roundabout way to block spam calls coming into your iPhone.
Silence unknown calls
With functionality Silent stranger calls activated, your iPhone will use Siri suggestions to determine whether a call is from a known number or not. If the number is not known (not to be confused with “Unknown number”), your iPhone does not ring and the number is redirected directly to your voicemail. If a phone number is in your Contacts, Messages, Mail or recent outgoing calls, it goes through as usual.
open Settings > Telephone ;
Press on Calls silent strangers ;
activate Calls silent strangers.
You may find that while this drastically reduces unwanted calls, you miss some calls that you expected. For example, waiting for a package and therefore calling a delivery man. You will find, later, that he tried to call you and your phone did not ring, for example. If you do not want to send such calls directly to voicemail, deactivating the function is preferable.
Use spam filter apps to block spam calls
You can do more than just silently send a call to voicemail. Through a phone spam filtering application. You can effectively eliminate most of the spam calls you receive, even if they come from unique spoofed numbers. You will need to download an app from the App Store. Among the possibilities available, there are: Call Control, Truecaller and Call Control. These apps tend to have subscription fees, but it could be worth a few dollars a month to save your sanity.
