Want to watch Hulua on your Linux computer from the comfort of your Linux desktop? Tired of opening Firefox or Chrome to watch? Check out Electronplayer. It is a streaming application for Linux that supports most mainstream streaming services, including Hulu. Follow the steps below to install it on your system.

Note: following this guide successfully; you must have a Hulu account and a paid subscription to the service. Hulu does not work in Electronplayer without an account. Learn more about Hulu here.

Install Electronplayer on Linux

Electronplayer is a great app that lets you watch your favorite shows on Hulu on your Linux desktop. However, this application is not pre-installed on any Linux operating system, so you will need to configure it manually.

There are three ways to install Electronplayer on Linux. The first is to use the Linux Snap package. Another method is AppImage, which is similar to the Windows EXE. It is also available on AUR Arch Linux.

Linux Snap package

To install Electronplayer on Linux through the Snap Store, first enable the Snap package on your computer. You can activate the run by installing the “snapd” package and activating the “snapd.socket” service using Systemd.

Once the Snap runtime is set on your computer, the installation of Electronplayer on Linux can begin. First, press to open the terminal window on the Linux desktop Ctrl + Alt + T. with the keyboard. Or search for a terminal in the application menu and start it.

When the terminal window is open, use immediate installation command at the bottom.

sudo snap install electronplayer


If Snaps isn’t your thing, you can also install the app through AppImage. To get started, open a terminal window on the Linux desktop. To open the terminal window, press Ctrl + Alt + T. keyboard or by searching for “Terminal” in the application menu.

When the terminal window is open and ready to use, type wget below and download the latest version of AppImage from Electronplayer.

wget https://github.com/oscartbeaumont/ElectronPlayer/releases/download/v2.0.8-rc4/electronplayer-2.0.8.AppImage

After downloading the AppImage file, use mkdir command to create a new folder. This folder is called “AppImages” and is used to store Electronplayer AppImage files.

mkdir -p ~/AppImages/

Using mv command, place the AppImage file in the newly created AppImages folder.

mv electronplayer-2.0.8.AppImage ~/AppImages/

Now you need to upgrade your Electronplayer permissions to work as a file.

sudo chmod +x electronplayer-2.0.8.AppImage

Finally, start Electronplayer using the execution commands below.

cd ~/AppImages/

You can also start Electronplayer by opening the “AppImages” folder and double-clicking the AppImage file.

Arch Linux

Electronplayer can be installed on Arch Linux AUR. To install it on your system, open a terminal window on the Linux desktop. Then type the commands below in sequence.

sudo pacman -S git base-devel

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/trizen.git

cd trizen/

makepkg -sri
trizen -S electronplayer

How to watch Hulua on the Linux desktop

To watch Hulua on your Linux desktop using Electronplayer, follow these steps. First open “Electronplayer” by searching for it in the application menu. Once open, follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Phase 1: Find the Hulu icon in the app and click on it with the mouse. If you are using a version of Electronplayer that does not have a Hulu icon, follow these steps.

First, find the “Settings” menu and the “Available Services” submenu. Browse the “Hulu” submenu and activate it by clicking on it with the mouse. Then restart the Electronplayer application.

Step 2: After clicking the “Hulu” icon inside the Electronplayer application, the Hulu site will load. Find the menu in the upper right corner and select it with the mouse to display the content.

Step 3: In the Hulu menu, click the “Connect” button with the mouse. When you click this button, you will be prompted to enter your username and password. Let go.

Step 4: Once you have logged in to your Hulu account, your “items” will appear. Select the TV show or movie you want to watch with the mouse and let it download so you can enjoy the show.

Should Hulu be shut down? Close the Electronplayer window and it should close. Alternatively, you can switch services by clicking “Services” and selecting the “Menu” option to access the services menu.
