The iPad Air 5 could get its inspiration from the design of the iPad Pro

The iPad Air 5 could offer a whole new kind of model inspired by the iPad Pro, even though the new model was unveiled in September 2020. Apple’s way to harmonize its tablet lineup.

The iPad Air 4 was unveiled in a keynote speech in September 2020. It offers a complete overhaul of the previous model as well as many new features such as Touch ID on the edge. With iPad Air 5 Apple may change the formula again.

The Japanese site Mac Otakara (via MacRumors) really believes he knows a few things about the next iPad Air. This would bring the design closer again to the iPad Pro model. However, it retains a 10.9-inch screen (whether it is OLED or not is not specified) as well as the Touch ID of the edge.

From the news menu, according to the site, we should find a LiDAR sensor, even if its presence has not been demonstrated. At the back you should also see an image module with two sensors, a main and a very wide angle. Inside, Apple apparently improved the processor section by adding A15 SoC, which seems logical. 5G would also be part of the game and a brand new sound system with four speakers. We do not know when it will be made public, but we should invest in 2022.

The iPad Mini 5 could also introduce a new model

The Japanese site goes further and brings out the new classic iPad (ninth generation) and iPad Mini 6. He says they don’t propose major changes. They would only have an A14 chip to stay in the race, but nothing else. Information that contradicts Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo, who in turn claim that the next-generation iPad Mini would see its screen magnified as well as the absence of the home button. A major reform that will be confirmed or not before the end of the year as the product is expected to be in the fall.

In any case, the approach of the iPad Air to the iPad Pro is not quite surprising. It would be a way to harmonize all of its selections at the risk of losing a consumer who doesn’t know much about Apple products. As we remember, the iPad is now available in four versions: iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPad Mini.
