The Discord app is really easy to set up. Even if you set up a server, you will find that there is very little to do. Joining a server is just as easy as inviting other users to join. Discord can run when you start up on your desktop and it will connect automatically.

Although Discord is working fine, it sometimes has issues. Some Discord users see the “No Route” error when trying to access a voice server or channel. Basically, Discord cannot connect to the server. This issue could be related to Discord, your internet connection, or your internet settings.

Discord without route: fix

This is a network error, so this is the network connection that you need to resolve.

Before trying any of the fixes on this list, make sure;

  • You have an active Internet connection. Try opening a website or submitting one from the command prompt.
  • Make sure other applications on your system can connect to the internet.
  • Check the Discord status page to see if there is a service outage.

1. Restart the router

The router, just like a computer, can experience random issues that can be fixed with a simple restart. You will need physical access to the router.

  1. Locate the power button on the router.
  2. Press and hold for ten seconds and release the button.
  3. Wait a minute.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on the router.
  5. Go to your computer and restart it.
  6. Open Discord and select the voice server to which you want to connect.

2. Clear the DNS

Try to flush the DNS. If there is a problem with your system’s network settings, DNS flushing may resolve it.

  1. Open Command Prompt.
  2. Run the following command.
ipconfig /flushdns
  1. Exit and open Discord.
  2. Connect to the voice channel.

3. Renew the IP

Just like flushing the DNS, renewing the IP address can also resolve this error.

  1. Open Command Prompt.
  2. Run the following command.
  1. Connect to the voice server and the error should go away.

4. Check your antivirus

The connection to the voice server may be blocked by your antivirus. We don’t recommend disabling it, but you can whitelist Discord. If you’ve never installed an antivirus, you still have Windows Defender and it can block Discord.

  1. Open the Applying settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security> Windows Security and click Open Windows Security.
  3. Go to Firewall and network protection.
  4. Click on “Allow an application through the firewall”.
  5. Click on Modify the parameters.
  6. In the Control Panel window, browse the list of applications and allow Discord to pass. If you don’t see Discord, click Add an app and select Discord. Allow it access on private networks.

5. Disable VPN

A VPN can prevent Discord from connecting to a voice channel. If you’re using a VPN service, turn it off and try to connect to the voice channel in Discord.

6. Disable high QoS packet priority

Discord has a few features designed to improve the quality of the messaging app. Sometimes they end up causing problems with the service.

  1. Open Discord.
  2. Click it cogwheel button at the bottom of the left column.
  3. Select the “Voice and video” tab.
  4. Scroll to Quality of service section. Disable the Enable high priority QoS for packets switch.
  5. Relaunch Discord and join the voice channel.

The ‘No Route’ error may seem vague, but resolving it is simple. It’s a network problem so you won’t have too much trouble solving it.

Any of the methods in this article will do the trick.
