Have you been told to open Action Center on your Windows 10 computer during troubleshooting? And now you ask yourself, “What is the Action Center and where is it located?” Do not worry. The action center is not a scary environment that would require professionalism to use. This is just a separate panel to make your job easier on a Windows 10 computer. Let’s take a detailed look at what Action Center is in Windows 10 and how to use it.
We address various issues with Windows Action Center. These include the location of the activity center, its opening, use and customization of the activity center.
Let’s get started.
What is Action Center in Windows 10
Action Center is a window with notifications and shortcuts to various Windows 10 settings. It’s like an Android phone notification panel or a combination of an iPhone and iPad notification screen and control center. A small idea? Now visualize the same from your computer and you have Windows 10 Action Center.
When you open the Action Center, the panel slides off the right edge of the screen. It is divided into two parts: notifications at the top and shortcuts or settings at the bottom.
The action center displays notifications for third parties and system applications. In addition, it bundles application notifications. Tap the notification to open the corresponding app with the suggested action.
To set shortcuts in the form of shortcut buttons, tap the button to turn the feature on or off. You can find shortcuts to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Nightlight, Focus Assist, etc. You can also use this setting directly from the action center itself. In addition, shortcuts are customizable. So you can either rearrange them or keep just what you need as shown below.

Because Action Center consists of notifications and settings shortcuts, you can customize both. Let’s start with notifications followed by shortcuts or settings.
Customize notifications in the Action Center
We’ve divided it into three parts: disable notifications, clear notifications, and hide the number of notifications.
Hide or show notifications in the activity center
Sometimes, as you work, notification banners can bother you. To stop this, you don’t need to turn off Action Center, you can just turn off notifications for those apps or turn on Focus Assist mode.
To enable or disable applications that should display notifications, open Settings on your computer. Then click System. In the left sidebar, click Notifications and Actions. You will find various settings related to notifications. You can either turn off notifications completely by disabling the “Receive notifications from apps and other senders” switch.
Counselor: To access this screen, click Manage Notifications at the top of the Action Center box.
However, if you want to edit notifications at the application level, scroll down the same screen and find the “Receive notifications from these senders” section. Click the application whose notifications you want to customize. Suppose, though, Chrome.
In Chrome, you can enable or disable the ability to display notification banners, display notifications in the Activity Center, play audio, edit the number of notifications, and more. You can also customize notifications from other apps and hide or show them in the Action Center.
Clear notifications in the Activity Center
Announcements do not stay in the action center indefinitely. You can either clear all notifications, delete them one by one, or delete all notifications from the app.
To delete an individual notification, hover over the notification and click the small crosshair icon.
To block all app notifications, hover over the app name in the notification section of the Action Center. Click the cross icon.
To clear notifications from all Action Center applications, click Clear All Notifications.
Hide the number of notifications
The action center icon shows the number of unread notifications. If this bothers you, it can be turned off. To do this, right-click the Action Center icon and select “Don’t show the number of new notifications.”
How to customize quick actions in the Action Center
It can be covered in two parts as shown below.
Add, delete, and Organize quick actions
You can select the shortcuts that appear in the Activity Center and their locations. To customize shortcuts, right-click any shortcut and select Edit Shortcuts from the menu.
Counselor: To open the main shortcut configuration page, click Go to Settings on the shortcut menu.
Click the Add button at the bottom to add shortcuts to the Action Center. The available shortcuts appear. Click the one you want to add and press the Finish button or close the Action Center.
To change the position of a shortcut, press and hold and drag it to a new location. To delete a shortcut, click the Delete icon at the top of the shortcut. You can add shortcuts with the Add button.
Expand or collapse shortcuts
Windows provides two ways to view fast functions. You can either show all shortcuts in the Activity Center or keep only four. To display only four, click Minimize Text in the Action Center.
This is what shrunk shortcuts look like. Click Expand to see everything.
Observe: The keyboard shortcuts added to the first line appear when you collapse them. Therefore, rearrange the shortcuts so that the keys you want remain on the first line.
Make a change
Windows Action Center is changing in future versions of Windows. The main functions and operations will remain largely unchanged. However, you’ll see some design changes in the new Action Center that comes with Windows 10X or Windows Next.
